The Ninth Circuit affirmed a summary judgment in favor of GMSR’s client, the defendant City of Beverly Hills, in an action for false arrest, false imprisonment and violation of constitutional rights. The appellate court agreed with GMSR’s contentions that the plaintiff could muster only unsupported speculation in support of his allegations that the City’s police lacked probable cause to arrest him for battery on his neighbor; that the police intentionally held plaintiff too long in jail after booking; and that there was a conspiracy within the police department to retaliate against him for his public criticism of the then-chief of police.
