A jury found in favor of plaintiffs on their fraud complaint in a commercial real estate case. Defendants moved for JNOV and a new trial, arguing that plaintiffs failed to prove the value of their limited partnership interests and/or failed to prove a reasonable basis for calculating damages, and that the trial court erred as a matter of law in its calculation of prejudgment interest. The trial court denied defendants’ motions.
Defendants appealed, challenging the sufficiency of evidence supporting the awards of compensatory damages and compound prejudgment interest.
The Court of Appeal affirmed.
